Lily Mae Pagan

#46Days

Lily Mae Pagan was born on Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Merrillville, Indiana.  She was expected to be on the smaller size, but she weighed in at 5 pounds, 10 ounces and 17" long, which wasn't too shabby for being two weeks early.  We were told that she would be born with a smaller head, as she was only measuring at the 9th percentile that week.  Our fighter, clearly, was born with a noggin' that was just perfect. . . at the time.

We brought her home on day 3.  Lily wasn't too fond of the breast, and when we took her to the doctor, they recommended that we supplement with formula.  On Lily's 5th day of life, we rushed her to the hospital, thinking she had aspirated on her formula.

That night, we were rushed to Indianapolis to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, in which Lily would spend the next 10 days.

After numerous testing, on Sept. 27, we were informed that Lily had a tumor sitting on her brain stem.   On October 1, after meeting with several specialist, it was agreed upon that we would take Lily home into hospice.  On Lily's 15th day of life, we brought her back home to Lake Station to continue loving and hugging, cherishing the moments we had left with her.

On Wednesday, November 3,  it was a beautiful Indian summer day in which our Lily Mae took her last breath.  Lily graced us with her presence for 46 lovely days.
